Takari Primary School ECE Sustainability Garden allows students to compost their food scraps, and use this compost to grow garden vegetables, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Each class has a role in implementing strategies in the Sustainability Garden including;
- Garden Gurus gardening club
- Caring for our frog pond and worm farm
- Classroom composting – collecting Crunch n Sip scraps
- Waste Free Wednesdays
- National Tree Day and Clean Up Takari Day
Our program won a City of Stirling Living Green Award in 2018 and continues to delight the children with fresh vegetables to take home or use in classroom cooking.
